Quinceanera Cakes in Chicago IL
Let’s talk about quinceanera cakes in Chicago! Yummy! This is one of my favorite parts of quinceanera planning. Imagine waking up in the morning and knowing that the only thing you had to do that day was to visit some of the different bakeries in Chicago and taste one cake after another. Chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, red velvet, and so many more. Talk about yummy!
But aside from tasting good, the quinceanera's cake is a great way for her to express her true spirit. Is the quinceanera fun and bubbly? Is she intelligent and studious? Is she outgoing and precocious? Moms, the big question is—How does your daughter want to be seen by all the guests? The cake is an easy way for a quinceanera to express herself and her tastes as she takes her first steps toward womanhood.
Most quinceanera cakes in Chicago go along with the quinceanera’s theme and color. In my time, I have seen plenty of quinceanera cakes. I have seen everything from elaborate cake-castles to simple and straightforward cakes with no frills. But in my opinion, you don’t want to sacrifice taste for fashion or prestige. The best cake is one that complements the quinceanera’s personality while being very tasty at the same time.
Before buying, you always want to taste a sample piece of cake made with the same batter recipe that yours is supposed to be made with. Most Chicago bakeries let you do this (at least the ones that want your business). And understand that, as a general rule of thumb, the more complicated the cake, the crustier the icing will be because it takes much longer to make and the cake is exposed to the elements for longer periods of time.
Now let's discuss quinceanera cake toppers. These are a great way to add some flair and pizzazz to the cake itself. No matter how big or small the cake is, a quinceanera cake-topper always adds to the overall beauty of the cake itself. Depending on your quinceanera theme, some ideas for cake-toppers are a plastic figure of the quinceanera dressed as a princess. Palaces and palace coaches are also good ideas since your daughter is the princess that day. For the Cinderella themes, I have seen things like a glass shoe or a tiny pumpkin carriage.
Quinceanera cake prices can range anywhere from $100 to upwards of $1000 for a huge, elaborately designed cake such as a castle. But with just $150-$200, you should be able to buy a three-tiered quince cake that will feed around 100 people.
My suggestion would be to take a Saturday afternoon and go around to the different Chicago cake stores and taste some cake. The more cakes you see and taste, the better feel you will have for the style of cake you will want. Plus this allows you to determine what kind of price you want to pay for a cake. Sometimes the pastry chef may come out and talk with you. If he/she does, be sure to ask questions about how the cake will hold up in transit. Will the bakery deliver or do you have to pick it up? Most respected bakeries in Chicago deliver free of charge. This is important. You don’t want to have to go and pick up the cake the day of the event. You open yourself up for potential disaster if you do.
